Painting is a visual meditation that is transformative. The painter enters a moment with movment, color, tone, dimensionality, light, shadow, and darkness. It is liminal; full of inspiration, awe and moments of utter frustration.
In painting, one confronts one’s shadow, the inner critic and imposter syndrome.
The magic happens when we get out of our own way.
The artist eye, the “I” within, engages in this inner/outer focus with the canvas, the paint, and the image. The imaginal realm is a very alive dimension, which we enter. It is an immersion.
Thus the painter, the self, co-creates, allowing the impression to emerge.
My art is modern Impressionism.
